@Broyale26 These bastards are shrewd. I just financed a new car and they too try to trick you in a million different ways. I read everything and act responsibility because the price of not being diligent with your money is high. I can’t control the banks but I can control myself and that puts me in a good place where I can make good decisions. Thus I avoid any complications and unnecessary expenses.

I had to pay hundreds of dollars in 09 for this shit.

@C0ct0pusPrime That’s wrong and predatory. Banks are known for this kind of stuff which is why I support the consumer protection agency. My sister has been hit up like that in the past. But part of “consumer protection” is making sure that consumers are informed but that’s not the bank’s job. Ultimately, its yours. If you had known of their tactic you would have acted differently. That’s why I read all the fine print. Always. That’s where they hide their kiss of death.

@dffykvn Great point. It’s so well thought out and excellently presented that I think I might reconsider my stance on the issue. Thanks for such enlightening insight.

I like overdrafting my account because I like to accentuate American Exceptionalism by donating my money to the job creators who make our country great…The mega banks.

If you don’t like the rigged laws of our country then you’re probably a lefty lib communist marxist maoist socialist bloodsucker and you’re whats wrong with our great country.

-Unwavering Republican who wants to know why you libs hate America.

P.S. If you didn’t know, rigging stuff in America IS the American Way..You LOSERS!

@Vire70 I use US Bank. They are incredibly polite, whenever I have had an issue, they did their best to resolve it. Best of all, they do the credits and debits before they charge any overdraft fees. BofA would do the debits, charge overdraft fees, then add the credits. Hell, US Bank even called me up to see if there was anything they could do to improve their service, no outstanding issues prompted the call. They wanted to check with their customers. I can honestly say I love my bank.

Thats why I love Chase. They always notify me of insufficient funds by phone and e-mail. I just run to the nearest ATM and deposit or transfer money before they stick me the overdraft fee ($34) which usually happens after 24 hours if your account is still negative. Theres even an option where you can opt out of the overdraft coverage and they wont charge shit and deny any purchase if it would make insufficient funds. Chase is normal imo.

@onepiecebigfan the moral of this story really is don’t do business with these shady banks. They go from the highest to lowest transaction to get the maximum number of NSF fees, don’t pretend it’s for any other reason.

I don’t do business with a bank who would do something this shady.

    Mendo Lake Credit Union

  14. koryakapelinal333

@onepiecebigfan They do this on checking accounts and debit, not credit.

  15. Debonair73

I’m not defending the banks on this but one of the reason why they clear the higher cost transactions first is because higher cost transaction tend to be more important. I would much rather my rent clear the bank and not the smaller transactions than have my rent check bounce. Now if you they are going to clear all them anyway, then your arguments is valid. When I had overdraft protection, it worked like a line of credit, it was an extra 200 with no fee I had access to if I came up short.

    A nation of legalized rackets.

The moral of this story is : don’t buy things when you don’t have the means. Credit is one of the top reasons why people in this country are so much in debt. The added fees and interest only make it worse.

i got screwed by chase on this for $300…which they kindly out of the “goodness” of their hearts reduced to $200…when i complained that their automated email system that’s supposed to warn me sent out the warning email FOUR DAYS after the first instance, they were like “oh that’s weird that’s not supposed to happen…but it’s still YOUR fault, now pay up” after that i transferred to a credit union and left chase open for a year to make them pay for the maintenance cost of an (dead) account
